Hey!

I'm going to keep this pretty short. For those who do not know, a postmortem is basically just a quick write up someone makes after a game to talk about what they think went right, wrong, etc.

I have also attached the earliest drawing I had of this idea for the jam. Not too far off from the final version in my opinion!

What Went Right?

• I kept this game quite simple. There are only 7 days and in my opinion the basic mechanics of the game are pretty easily grasped on sight alone. which is always a bonus!
• I put a bit of effort in with the polish in this game. The way the characters slightly move around as you give them a haircut, the way the hair particles turn invisible after you cut them, I think that went a long way!
• This was the first game I've made a real in game tutorial for, and I think it really paid off!
• In short: I think the scoping for this game was perfect. And the simple concept helped me focus on making it the best it could be (or at least almost!) This has been my most successful game on itch.io so far! I hope anyone who has followed me stays tuned for more!

What Went Wrong?

• Looking back I should have included a difficulty slider. I wanted this to be the type of game you had to play a couple times to beat, but it is now obvious to me that some players really only want to play it once. And it could be kind of frustrating to have  to go through the whole game again to try and beat it.
• Another solution could be letting players retry from the day they failed.
• Both of these solutions are things I am considering adding in a small update!
• Other than that I am actually very happy with the game. I want to say thanks to everyone on this site for all the positive feedback. It's really cool to see!
